i hate all u people hate this band, they are awesome, one of the 21st Century's most talented bands, they took off from where amazing bands like Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and Red Hot Chili Peppers ended, and took off into the "heavier metal" industry with buffs like Slipknot, Disturbed, Korn, Audioslave, and many others, but plain and simple this is their best album which contains both rock/pop radio friendly singles, to heavy metal screaming rock anthems, to anything else Hyrbrid Theory is awesome here's a few of the great songs:
"One Step Closer"
"Crawling"
"In the End"
"Papercut"
"Points of Authority"
"Pushing me Away"
"Runaway"
and all the others

Every band serves some purpose, whether it's just for the members involved, 5 fans who are also friends with the band and can relate to the lyrics, or 5,000,000 who can relate to one aspect or another. Linkin Park serve the purpose of "leadway band" better than almost any I can ever remember because they leave you wanting more (obviously) but do so with some conviction and honesty. The lyrics really suck, though, and might lead some to expect similarly shitty lyrics in future bands, and to become confused when real conviction and deeper honesty drifts through their speakers. It's a real fine line, but not many bands ride the line the way the Park does. That's about as much credit I can stomach to give them.

dude I totally agree with you
for some strange unforseen reason
this music that has no depth or real meaning has somehow stayed with us for nearly a decade and in some cases even longer than that
I'm sure with your great taste in music Kev that your younger brother will be headbanging like the rest of us. :P

My youngest brother, who's 8 years old, is walking around with headphones singing (and strangely doing an interpretative dance to) "Runaway." It's so funny how this music has run through my family, going from my 8th grade heyday to my brother's first real band. I'd be really happy if the music didn't suck, but they're still a great leadway band.
