I always enjoy when you receive an album from a band that you have no idea about and you actually enjoy. No, Seven Mile Ride is far from perfect and they won't be for everyone but they have a great indie rock sound that is close to mainstream in the vein of Thornley or Three Days Grace. Sure, it's not as slick as the aforementioned bands but then again they probably had a massive budget where Seven Mile Ride seem like very DIY artists.
Seven Mile Ride likes to mix up rockers with mid-tempo tracks such as "Always" or "Facade". I think if anything would turn off a potential fan it might be these songs. I didn't mind it. Or it might be the slight organ use on "Dance Song". It sounds slightly out of place. This was the weakest song on the album.
A song like the closing "Chase The Past Away" is quite simple in context but it ends up having a great groove to it. It's one of those songs that would be a great soundtrack in the car.
Sure, Seven Mile Ride could use a little refinement for a little DIY band they are doing just fine and should please their fanbase with this self-titled album.
