Manu Chao - Proximo Estacion: Esperanza
Manu Chao may have not expected the success that was attained from Clandestino, his debut album. So how does an artist who is surprised with this much success come up with a sophomore album? Well, he sticks pretty close to the debut album in order not to lose fans. That's just what Manu Chao does with Esperanza. Hell, he even uses the same quirky rhythm that he used on "Bangin on my Bongo"? from Clandestino on not one but two tracks on this album. While it is a very cool little latin rhythm and very unique, you can't but think that it is wrong. What Chao should have done is forget about the first album and spread his wings into new territories. The result on Esperanza is not completely disappointing. If you had never heard this man before, you would be very impressed with the album. But for those of use who have Clandestino already, you can't help but think that he could have done much better. Still a worthy album due to Manu Chao's originality but hopefully Manu reaches out for his next effort.
