Linkin Park has always been somewhat of a guilty pleasure band for me. I never really expressed how I felt about the band because there have always been two sets of Linkin Park fans. On one side there are the die hard generic rock wannabes that embarrass the hell out of everyone in the room when the first words out of their mouth always have something to do with Linkin Park. On the other side we have the subtle fans who appreciate Linkin Park's style and sound until one of their idiotic fans tries to tell us they have seen Linkin Park more times than they can count. Now enough of my enlightening childhood.

Meteora is a very solid album. It doesn't incorperate as much synth as the last album. Depending on what side of Linkin Park you like, you might find this disappointing. I don't know everyone else's opinion about Meteora, but it shows more of the lyrical style of Linkin Park that we didn't really get from earlier albums. But lyrics aren't enough to raise this album above the slowly rising hill of mediocrity. Every song sounds like we expect it to. There aren't any breath taking moments that make you just sit and marvel. Maybe that is what I'm looking for in Linkin Park.

But I keep forgetting the true side of Linkin Park. All Linkin Park is and all it will ever be is radio rock. It gives shock jocks something to play every single day, expecting to hold us over until the next 3 hour block of Metallica can begin again. I don't know if it's just me, but I think beneath the radio b.s, there is a gritty, nasty,  and harsh side of Linkin Park that we will never see because everyone is afraid of what's capable when it is unleashed. Who knows, maybe one day we can dig up some unrealesed material. but until that day comes, we'll just have to sit in the shadow of our radio and wait to hear Enter Sandman for the umpteenth million freaking time.

I don't think I'm wrong with that statement. They certainly aren't underground in any regard, I've always seen massive hype and advertising behind all of their albums, and they pay for radio airplay. I'm pretty sure that's as mainstream and radio friendly as you can get.

lol Kev is absolutely right. Linkin Park is a joke now. and Evenflow really needs to calm down. Just because you don't agree with someone's opinion doesnt mean you have the right to jump from review to review spouting off insults.

Haha. No need to throw around insults when people don't agree with you, buddy. It's the nature of music: one man's trash is another's treasure.

fuck u kev, linkin park is one of the most talented bands in the industry, this album is awesome, every track is pure alternative and rap metal fun, its not for everyone but it is awesome. i think that it is simply amazing. Among the best tracks are

"Faint"
"From the Inside"
"Hit the Floor"
"Lying from you"
"Numb"
"Breaking the Habit"
"Figure 09"
"Somewhere I Belong"
"and all the others"

i saw these guys in concert, and yes Chester Bennington can sing, very good actually, and these guys are their own style of music, not your everyday normal band, sometimes their rap and rock, sometimes their heavier metal, and sometimes their alternative/rock, however this album is awesome, believe it.
