Summer camp is where all the young lovebirds come to flock and chatter, hoping to make connections under a blistery sun. Some find their first kiss under the moonlight here, while others find heartbreaks and petty fights. Whatever the reason may be, all teenagers seem to plant their fondest memories at summer camps, hoping to revisit those items of nostalgia at a later time.
Her Space Holiday’s XOXO Panda and the New Kid Revival is guaranteed to rush you back to those sunny, adolescent days. Marc Bianchi has traded in his electronics and computers for an acoustic guitar, and he slinks away from his sad overtones to get some happy chants and sing-alongs flowing. Every young soul can find his or her memory of love and loss in his excellent lyrics; “Sleepy Tigers” is just one of the handful of tracks that display his work with wordplay and cute love. Yet no matter what the subject, every song is reminiscent of the uppity tunes one would sing and clap to at a camp circle. The album is ideal for a lazy afternoon, if you’re into the idea of swaying and sprawling on a perfect green lawn.
Bianchi officially has created a range of music for any type of music adventurer to enjoy. XOXO Panda does lack the versatility that The Young Machines has exemplified for many of his electronic-loving fans, but it’s become another facet of the musical spectrum that Her Space Holiday has locked down.
