There doesn't seem to be enough sleazy rock bands out there. Let me rephrase, there doesn't seem to be enough GOOD sleazy rock bands out there. The Bronx has almost cornered the market here. Bands like Rocket From The Crypt and New Bomb Turks haven't been seen lately. The Bronx has just released their third eponymous album since hitting the stages in 2003 and this album just might trump the other two. They have managed to throw on some catchier tracks that might get the uninitiated into The Bronx. One of those said tracks are "Young Bloods". There are many times on here that they sound a bit like a Henry Rollins project, but Matt Caughthran is a much better all round vocalist.
For a minute I thought "Inveigh" was a cover of "Disident Aggressor" but then I realized that it was just as furious as the song I thought even though no cover. Then the group kicks even more ass on "Past Lives", a killer, catchy track screaming to be heard on hard rock radio. It's got a Buckcherry feel but so much classier. It's right back to aggressiveness on "Enemy Mind". The sort of song that you want to see in a live setting, as long as the venue is small and intimate. With songs like "Spanish Handshake" you can hear the band getting more and more refined. Sure, the band is still playing like its the end of the world but you can tell they are having a ton of fun with it.
Now, there are going to be people that can't handle the Bronx and the band won't be offended if you are one of them. In fact, they may write a song about what a wuss you are. And for those people who have liked the first and/or the second Bronx album, there is more than enough meat to sink your teeth into on this, the third self-titled album in their catalog.

A new self-titled Bronx album due out on November 11, 2008. Should be good.
