The Gravel Pit seems to be a smart band and I would assume by the great songwriting and playing that most of todays bands lack. Lead singer Jed Parish posseses a totally powerful voice able to leap over buildings in a single bound not unlike Ben Folds. The band comes from Boston where there seems to be quite a community of musicians. The Farfisa organ (quickly becoming a standard in alt.rock) makes a few apearances on Silver Gorilla but it only adds to the final package. Following the lead of fellow Bostonians Mighty Might Bosstones, the band appears to be clad in brand new suits bringing class back to rock and roll. Influences such as Elvis Costello are welcomingly accepted.
