OK, for all you kids out there who think Fall Out Boy is emo, here is the true thing. Rites of Spring were one of the first bands to be pegged as emo. Listening to their amazing End On End album next to anything that these days is considered emo, may start fits of rage with the kids of today. Yeah, you need some anger in your emo. You can see how this sound is a logical extension to that hardcore sound. Just amazing songs like "Other Way Around" show that these guys were formidable musicians trying new things out, playing with formulas to come up with something new and fresh.
Vocalist/guitarist Guy Picciotto and drummer Brendan Canty would go on to develop this sound even further in the even more influential Fugazi.
End On End is a must have in any alt/rock/punk and yes emo collection.
