What If's & Maybe's. One of the best Punk/Indie tracks for quite some time. As is When You Wasnt Famous (a radically different cover of The Streets track).
Although I'm not overly impressed with their subsequent softer Gargage tainted release this terrific 2005 debut album was unfairly overshadowed by their local counterparts The Arctic Monkeys debut and didnt get the press it deserved. There are some similarities soundwise, tho Bromheads are a little louder, rougher and more charming.
Bromheads are one tight little band. And the lyrics are more story telling than traditional punk lyrics. Little social commentaries on every day life in the grim North of England. Think Jarvis Cocker and Mike Skinner writing songs for The Arctic Monkeys to play right after their cars were nicked and they caught their birds shagging the bloke next door. No prisoners!
Anyone who enjoyed Look Good On The Dancefloor etc should lap this up. As should anyone with a love of GENUINE Punk (not that blink182 type american crap)
