RecommendGasp Asp is Look Mexico's latest effort, a 7" EP that takes fans on yet another brief journey. To be honest, Gasp Asp is my first exposure to the alt-rock band. I really like what I hear on these four songs. The band manages to create some complex arrangements but still maintain a very listenable mix of Indie Rock, approaching on Post rock territory with complexity.
My favorite of the four tracks is "A Survivor's Code. My Code". No particular reason other than it left a bigger impression on me than the other three tracks. But overall the entire four songs are brilliant. I don't think that Look Mexico will appeal to the masses. Their musicianship is too far advanced for the average indie fan. But if you get a chance, check out Gasp Asp. Definitely for fans of bands like Minus The Bear. They share a lot with those guys.
