This album disappoints! Some albums will grab your ear right away, others may require additional listening. My experience tells me that music can move you in different directions depending on your state of mind... making it necessary to listen again until you really hear the music or feel the music. After several listens I am definitely not feeling this music, which is a shame because Deerhoof have always caught my attention with every previous album.
I will probably try again sometime but I am not compelled to listen again to this record, and find myself drawn to their previous material when I need a jolt of deerhoof.
The reviews I have read so far have been falling all over Offend Maggie to praise it... What are they hearing in this music that I can't seem to find myself?
The music just seems so dull and uninspired. This is not the deerhoof that I have been so gaga over for the last few years.
