David Garza deserves to be heard. His music is modest and very interesting. He seems like a genuinely nice guy to boot (despite his name pronunciation: Dah-VEED). David’s voice rivals that of Jeff Buckley’s and Shudder to Think’s Craig Wedren. He’s a super songwriter with loads of charisma and character. He’s not afraid to try new and unique arrangements for his songwriting. The waver that he can throw in his voice gives me the chills. If Garza’s debut, this euphoria, passed you by unnoticed then you have to stop what you are doing to check out Overdub. His new album is diverse and totally fulfilling. There are some tracks on Overdub that don’t really sound like anything special until David’s faltering falsetto gets under you skin. At that point you are hooked and have to keep coming back for more. Toss Overdub in your computer and you will be blessed with an addition 11 MP3’s that sound like demos. If you are more into acoustic records you should check out Kingdom Come and Go which David released on his own Wide Open label late in 1999.
