From what I can tell, Lunamarium was originally release in 1999 on a label called Trademark. Lily Frost was then picked up by the Nettwerk label and the album has just been re-released. There is reason for this. Lunamarium is a fantastic album that any fan of girl rock would appreciate. Lily sings in French and English with no problems switching between the two. Her songs are of major league quality and the production is superb. I am not sure if the album was re-mastered with the re-release but it sounds fantastic. Her songs range from sexy French tracks not unlike something of Serge Gainsbourg’s to the straight-ahead rock song. The album proves that you don’t need a big budget in order to come up with a superior album and that Canada is indeed a talent pool of artists waiting to be discovered. Put her on the next Women and Song.
