Francine isa bit of a tricky band to nail down. They are a guitar rock band and yet they are also very vocal and the lyrics are put high in the mix. A lot of the guitar work is very experimental and different and quite refreshing. Lead singer, Clayton Scoble (formerly of Poundcake), is able to make transitions between quiet ballads to upbeat pop tracks without blinking, almost effortlessly. The rhythm section is rock hard and unstoppable. I can't even pull out a favorite out of the album as the whole album is first class and there is solid tracks throughout. Francine have found a sound that works and not every other band is doing it. It's rock n roll with not as much emphasis on the rock, leaning heavy on the melodic pop side; ala The Smithereens. Their polished pop sound is bound to get them noticed once they take their show on the road.
