The Fontanelles are a new band for me but somehow they seem like something I've heard before. One of those bands that keeps you thinking "These guys sound like someone I know". But the great thing about it is that each songs pops different names into the phrase "They sound like _______". I let you figure out the blank for all the songs. Tina Staples provides most of the vocal work and she does so with a sultry seductive voice that gets under your skin. The almost eerie production work lends to this as well. The other tracks are sung by Chris Staples The band plays a type of psychedelic rock (sometimes even rockabilly) that, as I said earlier, reminds me of a variety of bands and yet never sticking to one. Case in point is "Imlay City Rodeo" which sounds very much like Jane's Addiction the way the production swirls around. A great debut for doing everything
