Firewater - Psychopharmacology
Firewater make their next (logical) step on their third album. Who would have thought that ex-Cop Shoot Cop Bassist, Tod A, was so friggin' talented. Firewater have the critics in the palm of their hand. Everyone is looking to their next move and Psychopharmacology is their proof that the first two albums weren't just flukes. The album kicks off with an almost blues riff and then a chucka chucka chucka rhythm kicks and grooves along with an organ bit as well. It's as if Jon Spencer smartened up and decided to try and become somewhat accessible. The title track is a track that sounds a bit like latter day Damned with it's spooky organ and Todd's smooth vocals. The subject matter for this album is very dark with a lot of death and drug references but altogether Firewater provide yet another outstanding album, and as usual, not a bad track on Psychopharmacology.
