Someone recommended Shallow Graves to me and I'm sure grateful. Whoever you are, thank you. The Tallest Man On Earth is a folk singer from Scandinavia known to his parents as Kristian Matsson. Sure, he will get the Dylan comparison but Kristian is so much more hip than Dylan. He would get lumped into the freak folk movement with bands like Vetiver and Devendra Banhart. Just listen to the first track on his debut full-length album, Shallow Graves. It's called "Honey Won't You Let Me In" and it has more charm than Obama's fist bump. But potential listener, don't stop there. Head to track two called "I Won't Be Found". It is right here where you know that Tallest Man On Earth has a little bit of magic going on.
And honestly, things just get better and better. The rolicking "Pistol Dreams" will really get your toes tapping. I'll leave you with that. If you aren't interested with that then nothing else I say will convince you that Shallow Graves is worthy of your dollar. This one will stand next to Bon Iver's debut as the best folk album of the year.
