Plastic Boner Band - Isaiah 66.6
Quietly, and with little distribution or notice, this is the era for homemade, basement tapes that ring out with power and guts. Plastic Boner Band, whose last release was on cassette (!) delivers another screamer from nowhere, complete with limited edition, hand-made jewel case. Why all the effort, especially for a noise record that only a small percentage of people will even be into, let alone hear? Because that is what DIY is all about. This has been going on since slaves nailed one guitar string to the side of a barn, picked up a pint bottle for a slide, and played their blues.
The point is to make that sound, and share with however many people want to listen. In days when big bands like U2 and Metallica see their loyal fans as pirating criminals (while still claiming to want to save the world and ROCK!, respectively), and even punk bands willingly shoehorn themselves into easy tired niches, there is still a whole world of bands and artists who kick it from the soul, even when common sense (ie $$$, Sony, Bono) says it ain't worth it. This is how rock started in the first place, and punk after it. Who's got next?
So here is a handful of blistering noise with oddly moving softer colors underneath. Listen, or don't. Plastic Boner Band, and an army behind them, will keep cranking it out for those who do listen.
