Not really two genres you would associate with one another but Putumayo has tracked down 11 tracks that incorporate both Latin and Reggae and does a pretty convincing job of it too. Basically on this compilation you get reggae sung in Spanish. And it is pretty damn good reggae too. Nice, refreshing music that evokes a relaxing time, chilling out on a hot day.
Most of the music here originates from Spain, surprise, surprise but there are some other regions that are represented. The group Gondwana is from Chile, Sarazino is from Canada, Los Cafres are from Argentina (and recorded their debut album at the Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica), Cultura Profetica are from Puerto Rico, and Ticklah who is USA based.
Really, this is something quite special. It's world fusion at it's finest. It's quality reggae music from around the world sung in Spanish. How much more global can a compilation get? There isn't a bad track on Latin Reggae. If you're feeling like fun in the sun check out this new Putumayo collection. It really relaxes and puts you in a good mood.
