I'm pleased to say that I have been looking forward to reviewing this album ever since I received it about a month ago. Just never got the chance to listen to it given the plethora of new music I've received lately. However, even though I enjoy the music found within Let Us Prey, I don't think Spyder Baby will make a huge name for themselves unless we are somehow able to find a time machine and go back in time to when Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie were popular.
Their vocalist sounds almost identical to Manson and this album could be put on a soundtrack to a new Twisted Metal video game, but that is about as far as it goes. They do some unique work with sampling that can be compared to Nine inch Nails in "Goodbye" (same sampling instrument found within "Closer" and many other NIN songs). I would say more about the album if it weren't for the simply fact that if you listen to any Manson/Zombie album, you will know exactly what this sounds like.
The bottom line is, if you're into Manson, Rob Zombie, NIN or even Korn, you'll definitely enjoy this album. However, I do not foresee Spyder Baby becoming a household name within this decade unless industrial metal makes a profound comeback. This album would be perfect for those of you out there that like to own an album that close to no one else owns. Go for it scenemo kids!
