Playradioplay! is a one man electro-pop band from Austin, Texas. That one man is, Daniel Hunter. He made The Frequency EP in 2007. Sounding like The Postal Service's younger ADD stricken brother, Playradioplay! makes addictive and up-beat electro beats and melodies. The vocals fit perfectly with the beats and make for an very enjoyable experience. This is one of the bands that you when you hear for the first time your jaw drops and your left not quite sure how you got by without hearing them. Every single song on The Frequency is delivered and placed perfectly. The first song, "Bad Cops Bad Charities" is catchy and is placed perfectly as the first song. It shows you the quality that you only hope to hear on many albums. Followed by a song entitled "Compliment Each Other Like Colors" it gives you a youthful feeling that feels appropriate. The third song is easily one of the best of the album. The song is named "Confines of Gravity." With lyrics like "I wanna be an astronaut and get high..." it shows a refreshing immaturity that you will find your self swept up in. The album coasts for two songs then gets to the sixth and final song. In a bold move he covers "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers. I was a skeptic going into this song but quickly found it to be my favorite song of the album. Not only did it impress me enough to be my favorite of the album but I like it more than the original song itself. Overall The Frequency is a damn near perfect EP for a damn near perfect one man band. As you will find out at the end of this album Playradioplay! leaves you with a sense of longing.....longing for another album that is.
