Strangely enough I approached the debut album from UK's electro-trip-out duo Fuck Buttons with hesitation. A band who has such a vulgar name seems like they are just using it to garner attention. Well, the electronic music that is on Street Horrrsing deserves some attention.
Fuck Buttons manage to bridge the post-rock and electronic gap without much effort. The songs rarely check in under 9 minutes. If that doesn't scare you off then you may just be in for a lovely aural treat. Amazingly enough, they manage to create some very diverse songs here even though they are built up on the same premise. My favorite thing is when they implement the screaming vocals in the mix but they are so far down that they don't grate on your nerves and yet provide a great background for the atmospheric electronics. On "Ribs Out", the shortest track at just under 4 minutes and the last track "Colours Move" end up very tribal and could even appeal to a different crowd all together.
I gave Fuck Buttons 4 stars for Street Horrrsing but I really think this is something I will come back to over and over. It really is great for those people who don't like lyrics getting in the way of great music or distracting you from getting work done.
