Once again, a punk band seriously disappoints me. I understand that typically in punk music, it is more about the message and the feeling rather than actual musical skill. However, The Fix simply disappoints in every aspect of punk rock with their 2006 release At the Speed of Twisted Thought. The guitars are monotonous, lazy, and loud. The vocals are annoying, off key, and loud. The bass plays simple riffs that replicate the guitars to a tee, not typical of punk rock, but also not in a good way. The lyrics are mediocre at very best and are the most disappointing part of the album.
In the booklet provided with the disc, lyrics for only four songs are included and seem infantile in substance. This can be seen clearly in the lyrics for "Cos the Elite" which is a song about high class individuals stealing from the lower class: "Gut their car and they got their clothes, it's all that type we need to oppose, all f***in' wealthy, money to burn, because of them we won't get our turn." Sounds like they are trying entirely too hard to rhyme each phrase while also actively trying not to make sense.
I wouldn't even suggest a serious punk fan pick up this album and if I had the ability take this album off of the market, I would do it in a heartbeat.
