There is Emo and then there is Dashboard Confessional. What is the difference you may ask? Well, Dashboard Confessional goes over the deep end with their brand of emo. You may get scared away thinking that it might be way too sappy but hold on a minute. The songs on Dashboard Confessional are some of the best pop songs I have heard in quite some and they do all on an acoustic guitar. DC is basically Christopher Carraba with a bit of accompaniment. He is the principal songwriter and arranger. Chris is full of heartache and heartbreak but he does have a gift for writing some amazing songs. For the most part he is happy with his angst and has no problem wrapping a very cool melody around it. His voice is quite pleasant save “This Bitter Pill which he starts whining to the point of tears and it is quite painful as a listener. Warning: don’t listen too closely to the lyrics otherwise you may end up in a deep depression. This is strange when Dashboard Confessional is so peppy and upbeat.
