Start with the pop-punk trend. Then add some flavors; Boys Like Girls, Powerspace, Cute Is What We Aim For, All-Time Low, and add a dash of Spill Canvas for flavor mix them up and what do you get.....? You get Every Avenue's, Shh, Just Go With It. There is one major difference between Every Avenue and the rest of the pop-punk bands out there right now (of which there are many). That difference is that Every Avenue does it better than all of those other bands do. They take the traditional pop-punk sound and twist it into something different. With a bit of synth and elctro background and alot of good muscianship.
I was not expecting much from, Shh, Just Go With It when I first put it in my stereo. So, there I was waiting for some mundane copy-cat sound. I waited about 15 seconds until i realized this was not going to be one of those albums. With good delivery and witty, yet not onnoying and cliche lyrics, Every Avenue put together and album that is easily a essential pop-punk album of 2008. Days of old, is the first track of the album. It is a beautifully placed song. It introduces the rest of the album and the style of the band well. While each song could easily be used as a single, the song that seems to transcend the rest is, Boys Will Be Boys. It is easily the best track and somehow does not get old. Other highlights include....well pretty much the rest of the album.
So take a step back folks and think about what you see here. One, Two, Three, Four, Five, okay thats good. If what you came up with is the next big band of the pop-punk scene you were right. Every Avenue's, Shh, Just Go With It, is a breath of fresh air in polluted genre they call pop-punk.
