The Gentlemen are a large Celtic Punk band from West Virginia. Their nine members deliver a brassy, brash kick to the genre on this four song EP. While your ear will immediately think of Pogues, Flogging Molly, Bosstones—and that is the template—there is a frantic sense of fun here that is winning, and they may yet carve out their own niche. You know the drill: all the songs, “All alone,” “Country Roads,” “Fat Tim’s Wife,” “Don’t Mind” are all suitable for drinking, dancing, puking, sadly remembering the past. Good solid Craic right out of the gate, “Greatest Hits” is a worthy debut for a band that has been tearing it up live for some time. Here’s to the Gentlemen, and to the newest edition to Celtic pride.
