Clinic - Walking With Thee
In 2002, it is surprising how original a band like Clinic sounds. They have also taken the press on both sides of the big pond by storm. This reviewer may feel that the press is a little too positive with Clinic but there is some merit in what they are saying. This Liverpool based band is able to take some of the cool sounds of the 60’s and update them so they sound (and are totally) relevant to today’s music scene. Clinic is able to add very groovy rhythms, albeit minimalistic, to their songs like “Come Into Our Room with it’s almost eerie keyboard riff and hypnotic drums. One thing that Clinic has managed on Walking With Thee is to polish up their sound. While on Internal Wrangler, Clinic had a more muddy sound (it worked for the most part). Vocalist Ade Blackburn is original in his delivery and this time aroung he is a little more coherent. There are 11 tracks on Walking With Thee but once you are through you are caught reaching for the repeat button. Clinic dishes out the right prescription for musical success in the indie world.
