This is one of those long-overdue reviews of a band that comes from England. This four-piece garnered a lot of acclaim in last year’s top ten lists. That’s where I discovered them and thought that I should check them out. Internal Wrangler is their debut (their sophomore album is actually due quite shortly because Wrangler was originally released in 2000) and it is a very fine and creative album. It’s hard to catch all their lyrics because a lot of it sounds like nonsense but you end up humming the songs long after they’re over. Songs edge up against punk but they remain a little too reserved to be called punk. You might call Clinic an art-rock band for the new Millennium. One listen to “Distortions� should have you quickly converted as well. This is a great band that isn’t afraid to go into uncharted territory. I eagerly await the arrival of their new album.
