Oh boy, it's hard to talk about this album without just saying "it's beautiful". I've got to come at this froma personal angle first. My father was a cinematographer. Once when asked how he framed a shot, he gave a very moving simple answer. "Just look through the lense, when you love what you see take the shot, or start filming." that's what he said, and that's what it feels the Talking Heads did musically. This album just feels good on something like a primal level, it just comes so naturaly. It seems to whisper in your ear, "Just do what feels good, there's nothing more 'right' than doing what excites you".

This is pretty much a soft rock album, but it doesn't feel like it. There's a lot of funk influence. From the sparse opening "Psycho Killer" things explode into a rich texture of sound. Great production keaps each voice clean and clear though. David Byrne's vocals are playful and fun throughout, and the music definitely mirrors him. Their music manages to be remarkably artistic without ever feeling serious. I have to mention the DVD here, and Byrne's perposterous wiggling dance moves. The whole affair invites ridicule, but you better have a hell of a lot of fun laughing at them, or you'll be left out of a great party. That doesn't mean you can't laugh at yourself too once you jump in and dance along.

Stop making sense! just enjoy, relax, and have fun.

P.S. - The DVD is really amazing. It is a pinnacle of the performing arts.
