This album is probably one of the best debut albums ever released by a band of it's genre. Our Worlds Divorce was released by This Providence in 2004, but was not given much recognition. Our Worlds Divorce is, in my opinion, an oasis of what could have been hits if This Providence had a little more fame back then. Well Versed In The Ways Of The World, the opening track not only shows what the band is capable of. Immediately, you can notice that the band puts a lot of thought behind their lyrics. "In a world that lacks commitment, you very quickly learn to justify your actions. So follow the truth."
Truth And Reconciliation was the only hit off of the album, but it was a great choice for a hit. This song is based on what seems to be girl problems, mostly because of the lyrics. "Remember when I used to be your everything. Now I'm nothing at all." Our Flag Is White, in my opinion, one of the best songs on the album. Which is really saying something because it's almost impossible to find a track that is truly the best. The song sounds beautiful, and the chorus is adicting. "I'm just scared, of losing control. I'm terrified of who, I'll become with you. I'm just scared, the world hates you, and it's gonna hate me too."
Our Worlds Divorce, the debut album from This Providence should be picked up before their self-titled. This is the album that would have brought the band to great fame if they had been well recognized in 2004. If you want to hear a great album with a softer feel to it, then this is the album you need to pick up.
