It took me a second to figure this one out. Dimitri’s House of Funk sounded very familiar and it should because DMC has already released this in cooperation with Mixmag Magazine. It is the exact same release as Mixmag’s 60006 release of the same title that came out in 1997. I guess they felt that Dimitri was too far ahead of his time and deserved another chance with this one. While I wouldn’t pump him up that much, Dimitri sure knows how to get the party moving with his disco styled house music. He takes unexpected tracks for such a mix like Bjork’s “Isobel and works them so they fit right into the theme of things. You can also hear tracks from United Future Organization and The Brand New Heavies. He really adds heavy funk sounds to all the tracks and it’s hard to sit on your ass. Instead you get up and shake it hard. The mix is impeccable and the choice of tracks makes this a great party album. Dance your way into the wee hours of the morning with Dimitri’s House of Funk.
