do you hear any of Atreyu's new or old music on the radio?
this isn't a matter of radio rock
it is a matter of allowing a band to try new things and explore new opportunities.
the same thing is being said about Mindless Self Indulgence and their new album "IF".
thats why they made those early albums, so you could cherish them. So if I was you i would lock every door and window in your house and just crank The Curse or whatever Atreyu album is your favorite and just shut out the rest of the world all because Atreyu's new album doesn't sound like their other ones.

I'm sure many if not all Atreyu fans by now have heard the harsh criticism this album has been given. Let me just dismiss it all with this one sentence. Lead Sails Paper Anchor is Atreyu's best album! And im gonna tell you why. Too many people when they review metal albums compare the wrong things between albums: Does this new release retain the heaviness pertained in the previous release, Do any of the new songs make me wanna break shit, when they should be looking at other qualities. Does this new album take the band into a previous direction that is both new and inventive for both the band and its audience? Does this new album somehow make perfect sense when you feel a certain way? Yes, Lead Sails Paper Anchor is noticeably "lighter" than Atreyu's previous albums. And almost automatically listeners and critics alike get this message jammed in their thick skull. "O well if its not as heavy as the last album, it must suck" When clearly this album shows Atreyu's creative side. With songs like When Two Are One, Doomsday, Can't Happen Here, and Blow, Becoming The Bull, And Falling Down, one can't help but notice that Atreyu has almost matured in a sense that they realize that just screaming into a microphone and shredding your guitar carelessly just wont do anymore (I'm not saying they ever did that, im just trying to make a point.) Becoming The Bull is that fist pumping anthem that you just can't shy away from, with some surprisingly incredible lyrics. Doomsday is that "silent killer song" that you wont notice at first, but it'll get you eventually. When Two Are One has to be Atreyu's single handed most beautifully orchestrated master piece. And for all you "Faithfuls" out there, Atreyu pays a special homage to you with their fantastic cover of Epic. They put a message behind the music, and in front of it, they put a mind blowing force of harmonic vocals, masterful guitars, and chest thumping drumming that sends shivers down your spine that should only be felt when your girl finally gives in and gives you that long awaited birthday present you have been begging for (:P lol) Lead Sails Paper Anchor is an album that can't be ignored and shouldnt be. Atreyu has blossomed into a truly remarkable band and anyone that questions Atreyu or their credibility can look to this album, and really truly understand what this album means.
