Willy Porter is a true singer songwriter in every sense having done his battle with a major label and touring endlessly with band such as Cranberries, Tori Amos and Rickie Lee Jones. Falling Forward shows this man maturing in every aspect of his songwriting. Subject wise as well as the craftiness of the intrumentation. There are all sorts of styles on here too like straight finger pickin' marathons and crooning ballads right along side of some vocal showcases as well. His guitar playing is similar to his biggest influence, Leo Kottke, and he throws some of another influence, the late Micheal Hedges. He would be one to see live in an intimate setting I would imagine.
