RecommendFor those of you that have never had the pleasure of hearing a Kelly Joe album this is as good a place to start as any. Mr. Phelps plays the meanest slide guitar I think anyone has ever heard. He pushes the limits of blues and folk and breaks down all barriers that hold so many people back from doing creative things. He has been called the John Coltrane of the slide guitar and I'm willing to back that up. This collection is a series of songs that Kelly has written and spills out stories of growing up and heartache amongst others. Phelps is one of the most creative musicians, not just blues, to come along in a long time. His voice is so sincere and the lyrics provke the imagination. And then there is the guitar playing. Kelly Joe will go down as a master. Don't let him go down as unknown.
