It's not common to come across a qualified indie act that could have Rage Against The Machine nodding their political views in acceptance. Apparently more common than I may have assumed, ladies and gentleman, its The Common Threat.
A top ten vote getter in MusicEmissions Indie Of The Year contest, The Common Threat currently based in Manassas, Virginia seem to take their georgraphical location very seriously. Using their surrounding to empower their lyrics and sound. While songs like Repo Man and Indaudible are reeking of R.A.T.M. comparison's, they are not without serious credibility.
A strong rhythm section in Open Letter Closed... introduces and has an almost White Stripes feel as the lead vocalist slides in between each chord. Each lyrical sandwich has clever melody and antagonistic but fair "I hope that this provokes some bliss, then mayb you'll notice this".
At the moment, The Common Threat is at a musically simplistic beginning. But the energy, power, and lyrically charged spirit show a potential to bust out of a comparison to one of the most prolific political artists in the last twenty five years of music and create their own unique version. Look out Capitol Hill, The Common Threat have you in their sights.
