After leaving one of Canada’s most underappreciated rock band, Limblifter, Ian Somers went on to form a band of a different nature. Brundlefly was born out of this with friends Glen Delukas (guitar), Chris Copeland (drums), and Shane Turner (bass). Lose all your premonitions if you have heard Limblifter previously because the gentleness of Brundlefly is nothing like it. The mid-tempo progressive rock sounds that eminate from tracks like “By The Way are so crystal clear and obvious that you swear you have heard this band before. There are some similiarites to Built To Spill and some other college bands but Brundlefly has potential on major radio fronts. There are catchy licks and lyrics throughout that really can’t be denied. My biggest complaint with By The Way is the lame cover. It looks pretty amaturish. Otherwise there isn’t a bad thing about it. Excuse me, I have to go hit play again.
