With the opening track to Minks self titled album, Get It Right, you feel the explosion of energy blowing through your speakers. Their upbeat music and the calm voice of lead singer Neal Carlson are the perfect blend for the listening experience. Mink is the prime example as a great rock band releasing an even better rock album. Throughout this album, the one thing that stands out the most is the voice of Neal Carlson. Dematerialize and Crazy World are great examples of how Neal Carlsons voice helps everything just blend together therough the music.
The self titled release by Mink is a good album. Definitely above average, but not completely flawless. Although the vocals are unique, one of the downfalls about that is if exposed to them for too long one may get a little annoyed. Make sure to experience Mink in small doses if the there is no appeal to Carlsons voice. If you have not been exposed to the style of music that Mink produces, then it would be easy to think that all of the songs sound alike. To experience the true brilliance of Mink, you have to have an open mind about the music and listen closer to the music than you already do. When that's possible, you'll see how Mink is going to be a great success soon.
