Blurtonia - Blurtonia
Ian Blurton is a bit of a legend in Canadian independent music. If you have heard of Change of Heart then you will know who Ian Blurton is and in turn, the brains behind the hard rock band entitled Blurtonia. Ian put out something resembling a solo album a couple of years ago and entitled it Adventures In the Kingdom of Blurtonia. Obviously Ian liked the Blurtonia moniker and just ran with it. Blurtonia even fits into the pipe of Fu Manchu and blows it up with Ian’s melodic guitar riffs and killer vocals. The group sticks to Ian’s love of analog equipment both live and on record and you can tell. The sound is so classic with a heavy hit that can only be done with the old school style of equipment. Godspeed You Black Emperor’s engineer Daryl Smith was chosen to capture the powerful sound that Ian and his crew are able to grind out. Blurtonia is like a car out of control and hitting the guard rail just in time to save you from flying over a bluff. A killer album that will appeal to many.
