When you hear the first track off of this retrospective you will realize the influence that Blue Cheer had on not just Heavy Metal but the new Stoner Rock genre. Any fan of hard rock or metal would definitely better their selves with this album. You will understand where bands as important as Black Sabbath and even Jimi Hendrix would have been getting their ideas from. The fuzziness of the guitars and the rawness of the vocals would have never really been done before. Although Blue Cheer never really saw any commercial success, they live on in every hard rock musician’s records collection. The first track you will hear on Good Times is Blue Cheer’s thumping heavy version of Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues. It just gets better as they jam out for 7+ minutes which was totally unheard of for then. For those of you who thought that stoner rock is something that Kyuss unveiled, think again. Blue Cheer was doing the thick heavy guitar thing back in 1968. This is essential listening for any Kyuss and Fu Manchu fans as well as hard rock aficionados.
