Ugly, unsettling, filthy, heinous, abrasive, painful, crushing and uncompromizing. These are all words that can describe Gaza's "I Don't Care Where I Go When I Die". But one other quality that this music posesses that encompasses all of those characteristics is honesty. That's what this album is. 100% honest.
Sonically and conceptually, this band says all it wants to say. The music is raw and brutal; the low end is absolutely massive and is just about as weighty as sound can get. The music is technical as hell, but in a sense that adds to the music rather than the musicians' egos. It is spastic, but the band has complete and utter control over it. While most of the music is abrasive, there are moments where the band throws in some melodies, which remain just as dark and disturbing as the rest of the twisted music, that, although at times does get a little bit too incohorent, is expertly crafted compared to most noise/grindcore bands.
The guitar riffs won't get stuck in your head, and the drum beats are very unconventional, and it just works so fucking well, it's scary. The music is just as demented as the twisted lyrics being absolutely wailed by the vocalist. This album is all about the ugliness that is true human nature. This is bare and honest. There are no frills, and no bells and whistles. The lyrical structures are majorly schizoid, bringing to mind bands like The Red Chord. It is disturbing, and the key reason for that is because you realize that these lyrics could be about you.
""Sluts fuck better," She said to me. "So what's with the scarlet letter shit? There's no A on your chest. Dumber than a bag of Hatebreed fans. There isn't enough medicine in the world for my headache..."
"Cigarettes have killed millions. I wish I would have thought of that. Whate the fuck smells like tooth loss in here?"
I understand that this music would probably deeply disturb some people, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some happy-go-lucky radio-listener reduced to tears by the unrelenting, uncompromising nature of this music, but what it all comes down to, is that if you can handle the obscene, then this record is a gem.
