Babygrande records is dropping records on M.E. again. This time its Polyrhythm Addicts and their first major LP release, Break Glass...
Beat breakdowns throughout the album are hi tempo, and are matched properly by a team of lyricists. Shabaam Sahdeeq, Mr. Complex and Tiye Phoenix, while Dj Spinna turns the records. Track eight Get Ghost which has very clear vocals, and synchronized baton rhyming leading from one member to the next Phoenix truly takes the lead here as she does through most of the record. She just has a powerful voice that can flow soft and sexy or hard and rough.
For instance, Zonin' Out, her lyricism leads out the track sets a strong tone for the rest of the track. Pharoahe Monch walks in on tracks like Reachin' and gives it another dimension of tone. Other guest appearances from Planet Asia and Phonte (Little Brother) also give the disc a bit of a boost.
Tricky beats and scratching, and at times some intelligent lyricism brings this disc to top ten releases of Hip Hop 2007. Coupled with Sa-Ra's Hollywood Recordings Babygrande is at it again...
