Truth is, yes they do sound a lot like Black Flag, with a little crust here and there. Since they hail from LA, though, that is kind of like slagging a Cardinals fan for digging Miller High Life. You go with what you know, and there is a BIG difference between copying sound and copying talent. This is no cover band, and they have learned their history well.
This is angry, semi-old school punk with juicy distortion and literate, locally-focused lyrics on a particular city in a particular place and time. It’s Casual have added to history of West Coast hardcore with this set of fire-breathing reportage. Forget the sound; any asshole can play like Greg Ginn and if you are going to pay tribute to a sound, why the fuck not "Damaged?" This band is clearing its own path, loudly.
