Something about Badly Drawn Boy that grabs your attention. It’s not immediate though. It took me about 5 listens to Have You Fed The Fish to really get into but as of right now this album is a work of genius. If you are one of those people that shake your head at the success of this British artist then you are also someone who didn’t give his music a chance. I think the issue here is the diversity that Damon shows on albums like this. Anyone who listened to his soundtrack for About A Boy would have been introduced to his mellower side but he is so much more than that. Listen to the very upbeat and soul-ish “Born Again for proof of this as well as the disco-y “All Possibilities that has the funky guitar happening. While Badly Drawn Boy may not be the picture perfect pop idol, he is sincere in all he does. Give this album a chance and you may find your next favorite artist. No really, stop what you’re doing and give the Boy the attention he deserves. This is great pop music.
