As many Spoon fans, I have been eagerly anticipating the release and arrival of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (or is it Gagagagaga. And with anticipation comes a wee bit of worry and doubt. Come on, Spoon has been putting out successively great albums since 2001's Girls Can Tell. Well let me be the first to tell you that if you have been following Britt Daniel's crew you won't be disappointed. In fact Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga could trump all of Spoon's output thus far.

The album opens with the most signature Spoon sound on the album. "Don't Make Me A Target" has that rhythmic guitar strumming and some thought provoking lyrics. Then they have some production fun on "The Ghost Of You Lingers". The main riff is a hypnotic keyboard part but with Britt's vocals swirling around, with a huge echo added makes for an exhilarating listen and a very adventuresome song. Then we are brought back to earth with some sweet pop stylings on "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb", an instant pop classic. "Don't You Evah" is somewhat signature as well. I found "Rhythm & Soul" to take a couple listens but after that my head always bobs to this one. "The Underdog" is the best track on the solid album though. What could have been a signature Spoon song, Britt and crew change up "The Underdog" to be a bouncy acoustic track. It's got a great horn section in it as well. Bound to be a summer anthem, it's that happy. And then a clever little phrase is used on "My Little Japanese Cigarette Case" along with some neat production work once again make for a hidden gem on Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.

One thing I can always count Spoon for is to re-establish a love affair with music. They restore my faith in indie music showing that a band can put out numerous back-to-back albums without losing steam and remain indie and credible.
