Wow! What is there to say about Sherwood? Well lets start off by saying this, Sherwood is a great pop-rock band that is going to go far. Within the first track of A Different Light, you immediately get drawn in. Sherwood is for fans of bands like Mae, The Format, and Motion City Soundtrack, upbeat with a great colaboration of instruments. Thats what makes up A Different Light, there is a lot of small keyboard parts and beautiful vocals. A lot of the album is based around the theme of love, making a lot of these songs about finding love or a broken heart. Dont turn away just because of the theme, that doesn't make this album bad. Sherwood does a great job painting a picture in your mind through their lyrics. On a summer day going to the beach, you're looking for an album to drive down the road and sing along to. If you had the option, you would choose Sherwood, A Different Light.
The downside about this album is that it's set for a specific mood. You can't be completely depressed and listen to this album, thats too many mixed moods in one place. A Different Light seems to be set for the mood where you're happy and your looking to dance/sing. This album definitely isn't for everyone, but thats not what it's getting a rating based on. This album is being rated on how good it is for the genre it's set out to be in. With that in mind, Sherwood is a great band for their genre, one to watch very soon to pop up on the scene.
