Merge is making quite a splash already this year. Copping their latest title from a Beach Boys album of the same name, Merge's Ashley Stove are out to prove that indie rock is just as important. Ashley Stove is a 4 piece rock band that seems to have it's own magic in it's simple yet intriguing songs. All Summer Long is the bands fourth full length album as well as their second on Superchunk owned Merge Records. The Stove's music is an amazing upbeat guitar pop not too unlike their labelmates, Spoon. One listen to "Amen Grasshopper", the albums opener, will have you convinced that there is nothing wrong with this Raleigh, NC band. There really isn't anything mindblowing about All Summer Long but you can't help but get caught up in all the catchy hooks Ashley Stove possesses. Do not dismiss Ashley Stove.
