Listening to John Hurt is like sitting out on the porch with Granpa, rocking in an old rocking chair, and listening to his stories. With Hurt's storytelling abilities mixed with his calm cool presentation makes this such a pleasurable listen over and over. The tracks contained on this "The Complete 1928 OKEH Recordings" are some of his best known tracks even after his "rediscovery". Tracks such as "Frankie", "Nobody's Dirty Business", and of course "Avalon Blues" capture a moment in time. Re-mastered with hardly a pop or hiss at all these classics, which made Mississippi John Hurt a legend, are a must in any blues collection.
