Review of single "Berlin"

Ever since their impromptu substitution of The White Stripes for the penultimate slot on the Main Stage at the Leeds/Reading Festival a few years ago. Whereby, LA based trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, paraded their blistering blues rock to an appreciative and sizeable crowd. Since then, fickle music lovers have kind of lost touch with this authentic garage rock/indie outfit. Now on their fourth album 'Baby 81', through this ranging single they retrace their bluesy steps.
They instil a bit of rugged  soul and pulsing percussion, showing that they can still build a beat and chugging rhythm, whilst, at the same time, depicting the topsy-turvy nature of modern life.  Peter Hayes still does a great number in the dragging vocal stakes, delivering the catchy lyrical snap with plenty of heart and pride;

"Suicide Susie, what happened to the revolution??"

It's a case of back once again for the snappy, bluesy garage rockers.

caught these guys live on Lower Greenville in Dallas while working for MFA.org. Pretty good live show, jus never really, can I say..."tickled my fancy". Far too packaged for me. But still a solid sound.

Baby 81 revitalizes rock and roll essence. Front to back, attitude & grit lace the tracks, while maintaining the standard of love & wisdom in retrospect. It's getting more difficult to sell the "roots" image thats all too popular today. But theres nothing synthetic about B.R.M.C. What you see is what you get - a hardcore blues 3 piece outfit. For example, their performance on the Henry Rollins show of "Shuffle Your Feet" is mind blowing.
While their previous album, "Howl," presents the intimate acoustic tone, "Baby 81" is pure electricity. The songs pulse and thump a lot more, with driving bass lines that sound slightly distorted. It's as if their sound has been hot-rodded for the urban scene.
