Stanton Warriors have been pumping out some great garage/breakbeat for a number of years now and they seem like a perfect candidate for manning a Fabriclive session. That's exactly what Fabriclive.30 is all about, some hard hitting mash-ups of different genres and artists all with a Stanton Warrior flavor. The set starts out with a Kerri Chandler and Spank Rock mix. It works out fantastic, sounding retro (2 Live Crew) and futuristic with the Spank Rock style. Then on my favorite track, "Club Therapy" by Peace Division they mix in their own style. The words on this one are clever talking about how they don't need those big build ups, just good music.
Booka Shade is represented with "Mandarine Girl", a nice break from the harder hitting songs previously. I found that this set was a little stronger on the front end than the rear but the last few tracks bring up the energy a little more. It just seemed to get a little boring by the time you get there. A track like "Night Mover" has every right being on this mix while "Still Here" could have been dropped.
So Stanton Warriors deserve some praise for this Fabriclive edition. They brought their harder hitting edge beats to the table and while not hitting on every track, they do manage to keep the interest for the 1.2 hours that this album takes you. It's nice to see a lot of original material too, on this DJ set. The best thing about the Stanton Warriors is their poppin' beats that keep the mix in your face. Seems that is the right combination in order to get picked for the Fabriclive series.
