I felt like I was alone in my love for CocoRosie's sophomore album, Noah's Ark. Seemed that people preferred their debut but I found Noah's Ark to be so interesting and attractive that it ended on my 2005 year end best of. Earlier this year the Casady sisters released their latest effort, The Adventures Of Ghosthorse And Stillborn and again, I feel like I'm alone on my feelings for this.
The first track on Ghosthorse is "Rainbow Warriors" and it comes off sounding almost like Bjork singing for Arrested Development and it's got some great grooves going. If you failed to find the beauty in their previous albums then check out this song.
Ah, but the super lovely quirkiness comes out on tracks like "Japan". It's a bit long but the girls manage to keep it fresh. Their charm is present on "Sunshine", a beautiful chimey song that reminds me of Marissa Nadler. This charm follows through on "Black Poppies".
So you might be able to make a new category for CocoRosie now, freak-hop. Bianca and Sierra seem to have found a groove that they are trying to move with. Sure, Ghosthorse and Stillborn is not their best album but they must be praised for trying something new. I think this is one of those albums that will stand up to the test of time because there is no definitive style on it. They are experimenting and having a good time doing it, although this is definitely not for everyone.

I have to check this out. I loved "La maison de mon re". Very interesting sounds these two are making.
